Staff Pastors
Thomas Terry
Lead Pastor
Thomas serves as the Lead Pastor of Trinity Church of Portland. He is passionate about expository preaching and helping people understand how the gospel transforms every area of life.
Thomas and his wife Heather have been married since 2005, and have two sons, Tobin & Kuyper.
Samuel Nagel
Staff Pastor
Samuel has been a member of Trinity Church of Portland since 2012 and has served as a Staff Pastor since 2023, teaching and shepherding the congregation alongside the pastoral team.
He enjoys systems, structure, organization, people, Portland, and quality coffee.
Samuel has been married to Rachel since 2012. They have three wonderful kids, Lachlan, Ira, and Jolene.
Andrey Gorban
Staff Pastor
Andrey has been a member of Trinity Church since 2023 and has served as a staff pastor since 2025. He loves to study and preach the Word of God and is immensely grateful to get to teach and serve the members of Trinity. Prior to coming to Trinity, Andrey’s ministry experience was mostly in the Slavic world.
Andrey has been married to his lovely wife, Katya, since 2012.

How Elders Are Recognized
Elders at Trinity are not self-appointed—they are called by God and recognized by the church. The process includes:
- Biblical qualifications (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9)
- Testing and observation over time
- Affirmation by the current elder team
- Congregational vote
This process ensures that those who lead the church are not only gifted for the task, but proven in character and doctrine.
