The Contrast Of Wisdom

July 12, 2015 Speaker: Series: Soul-Saving Wisdom For Living In The Last Days

Topic: wisdom Verse: James 3:13–3:18

Pastor David Thommen preaching part 9 of Soul-Saving Wisdom For Living In The Last Days from James 3:13-18.

We answer a vitally important question from this text. How do we know what wisdom looks like? Wisdom defined from the Bible is a God given ability of the transformed heart to discern and to practice God's will. James here applies this definition to the church after discussing the potential sinfulness of human speech. James explains the converse of wisdom which flows from bitter envy and selfish ambition. This kind of sin in people doesn't stay put, eventually it flows out creating disorder and probable destruction in the church. As believers committed to Christ and His church we must guard against this individually and corporately. Let us always be quick to seek peace when sinful words have been spoken, and let us rejoice in the positions, gifts and accomplishments of others.
